Prayer Bible

Goodness!  Long time no see!

Yes, I've been absent for such a long time, wasn't intentional, just happened.

I keep meaning to log on and post something but just didn't do it.

I've mostly been reading and since January 1, I've read 44 books, not listening to audible books, reading physically.   Never before in my entire life have I read so much.  I don't know what came over me!

It's time for a break from books and I've come to the craft room to start on a new art journal today.

But, first, let me show you my prayer bible that I've been making.

I saw some YouTube videos about them and I wanted one.

I bought this small compact large-print bible from Amazon.

If you want to see YouTube videos for them, go check out

and also type in "prayer bible" in the search box for more.

The Eyes Have It

Good morning from my home in USA to you.

Husband and I will be leaving in a few minutes to drive us to the eye surgery place.

Two weeks ago today he had one cataract removed and today will have the other one removed.

Following his first surgery he had an excellent post-op experience.

When they take him back today to prep I'm going to drive to the Barnes & Noble bookstore that isn't far from the surgery place.

I've recently returned to reading after a long hiatus because I didn't feel like reading for such a long time.

I don't have a shopping list but I know I will find a book or two I want to add to my personal library.

We are now five days from Christmas!

I have all my boxes ticked on my list of "to get done" things.

So far.

I hope the town traffic isn't dreadful today but probably will be.

Have a great day and I'll see you next time.

Food For American Thanksgiving Holiday

CRANBERRY SALAD

In the USA we celebrate Thanksgiving Day holiday on the 4th Thursday of November.
One of the traditional foods I always prepare is cranberry salad, made from the recipe that my mom passed down to us.  She got the recipe many years ago from a friend and she always prepared it for our Thanksgiving dinner.

The preparation is rather simple if one has a food processor.

I put the cut up orange pieces in the food processor with cranberries (usually I divide both into two portions so the food processor isn't too full).
I chop the apple with my knife.
I put pecans into food processor if the pieces are large.  I do them separately.
The pineapple is drained first.  And it's important that only canned pineapple is used, fresh pineapple doesn't work well for some reason.

When the jello / sugar / boiling water mixture cools and is semi-jelled the ingredients are added to it and well mixed, then set in the fridge to set up.

I prefer making this recipe the day prior to serving so it's well set, but once it has reached fully jelled it may easily be served on the same day.

We all love it.
I can't wait until tomorrow to enjoy some with my sister's family turkey dinner!

My very old and well-used recipe

Sending happy Thanksgiving wishes to my American friends and readers.

Until next time,

The Old and The New

THE OLD ...

Well, Friends, my old high school is no more.  This week it met the wrecking ball.

It has a lot off history.
My grandmother attended this school.

Time took a toll on the building.

Goodbye, dear Alma Mater.

THE NEW ...

Our fridge decided it was time to retire.  We woke up one morning to a not-cold fridge.

We shopped, ordered, and waited for this new one pictured above.

Fortunately, we have a second fridge in our garage that we were able to store our kitchen food in for the duration.

It took two weeks but two marvelous young men delivered and installed this new one and we are so thrilled to once again have a cold box in our kitchen!

It was a bit of wait-and-see when they were bringing it inside -- they thought it was not going to fit through the door opening.  But, it did!  YAY!!!

I can't believe it's November already and that tonight we set our clocks back an hour.

Does time seem to be passing quickly for you too?
I love autumn and wish it lasted longer.

Thanks for your visit.

I Love Fall Color !

Hello my Dear Ones

Popping in to show you my lovely trees this morning.

I'm in a hurry at the moment to get all cleaned up so I can get to my vision check appointment later so I will be brief now but hopefully return soon and maybe even post more often.  Ha.  Do you trust me?

I've been a bit MIA lately for no good reason.  Just distracted, I suppose.  I'll seriously try to do better.

Thank you so much for visiting me, I love your visits!  💕💋💛

But I must close now so I can get myself ready.
Please come back and visit me again!

When Saying "I Love You" Backfires

Once upon a time I had a special female friend whom I thought knew me pretty well and trusted me.   Her birthday rolled around and I wanted to give her something that I considered to be a gift she would really like.  So I chose something and bought a card to write a little birthday note in and gave it to her.  I don't remember the words I wrote, but they were something appropriate to wish a happy birthday and before I signed my name I added, "I love you," meaning only that she was a special friend whom I admired and was happy to have as a friend.

Apparently, she misunderstood my meaning entirely as she soon unfriended me and stopped responding to my next communications (texting to say hi).  It took me a long, long time to think about what possibly could have prompted her ditching my friendship.  I was very hurt over this and just could not understand!

As time went by, it suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks -- she must have thought I was "making a pass" at her.  I could scarcely believe that because I thought she knew me well enough to know better.  I guess I was wrong.

Friends, I am "straight" and my words only meant that as a friend I loved her.  I just wanted her to know that.  Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought she wouldn't know my meaning.  I know many females that tell their friends they love them and I took it for granted it was a safe thing to do.  I was wrong.  It cost me a dear friendship and it's lost forever.

I didn't pursue attempting to make it right because I ended up moving to another state anyway and it was water under the bridge.  But once burned ... well, you get the point.

If you read this entire post, thank you, and I would really love to read comments regarding it.

Making Paper? or Making A Mess

So, my friends, I'm going to attempt a new craft for me.

I've wanted to try making paper from recycled paper for some time and I think I should get to it while it's a hot and dry summer day since I want to let it dry outdoors.
Over the past few months I've collected supplies.
Husband gifted me two sizes of deckles for Christmas that I asked for.
I bought an inexpensive blender so I don't have to use my food blender.

Yesterday I put some shredded paper into water to soak overnight.
Probably have way more than I will use but I can keep the prepared pulp for later use.

I have some flower petals in the fridge saved for adding to the pulp.  I hope it works.

As if this wasn't a big enough mess setting around, I made a dye pot outside to dye a shirt for Husband who asked me if I would give it a try.

He ordered the same shirt in the same color twice without noticing and waited too long to be able to return one.  So we're opting to try dying one of them.

I hung the dripping wet shirt on the clothesline overnight and today will run it through the washing machine.  After I hung it on the clothesline I sprayed it with the garden hose to hopefully remove some of the excess dye.
It's a process but whatever, we shall see how it turns out.

In years past I dyed stuff in a washing machine.  Didn't opt for that method this time.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. 💖
I'm off to see about this paper-making thing ............

Well, I Got the Witch Shoes Decorated

So here's a peek at first pair of completed prim witch shoes for fall decorating

My photo skills leave much to be desired -  sorry for the darkness and shadows

This hat is 17" tall

Stuffed, not actually wearable

The hat is kinda plain so I'm maybe going to add some more decor after deciding what.

Lots of labor goes into making these but I've got 4 pair finished.

I'm going to modify the pattern somewhat so I can make some boots.

I have some more to-do stuff on my list for today so gotta run.

Hobby Lobby ~ Flowers At My House

Yep, I made the quick trip to Hobby Lobby

Had a lot of fun just wandering all through the store and putting things
into my cart

One of the things on my shopping list were these fall little trees

So glad they still had some but the big sizes were scarce

Saw Christmas decor and more too

*****
The sign on the tree is from a shop in Chicago
from several years ago when I was there.

It once was used as a street name sign there but ended up in the salvage shop.

My beautiful lilies

I am presently crafting another witch shoe
with a modification to the heel,

Not ready for photos yet

Thanks for your visit.

Been A Wee Bit Busy, well, sometimes

This, my friends, is zucchini bread.

It just doesn't look like bread.
That's because the recipe calls for two loaf pans and I have only one.

So it was in a glass oblong cake pan.

Still tasted incredible

 Below  ~~~
this chair is mine now but was my dad's before he passed a year ago.

I dragged it into my sitting spot to replace the previous chair.
I'm loving it.

Thanks, Dad, I miss you so much!

Yesterday I found enough ambition to do some reorganizing of my *stuff* stored in the guest bedroom.

I love to sew on my treadle machine so I moved it where I have space to sit and sew.

Don't judge my materialism, please.  Haha
I'm a senior and have accumulated way too much of it, I admit.
But, I'm attached to it and I still love seeing it.
So for now it stays.

I'm thinking about making a quickie run to my closest Hobby Lobby (25 miles from me but a simple trip, low traffic and easy peasey access).
It's been T-storming so have to make sure Hubby doesn't want me to not drive in it.  Although it's no biggie.

Y'all have a fab weekend.  See you again soon.
